'Growing Food for our Future' Event Notes

Cheshire Community Action, Reaseheath College, Cheshire & Warrington Sustainability Alliance, Cheshire & Warrington Enterprise Commission, Cheshire East, Cheshire West & Chester and Warrington Councils delivered a partnership event on the 12th July 2010 at Reaseheath College to bring together communities, businesses, schools and local councils to share ideas and information about growing food locally.

There were workshops on:

Cheshire East Community Cohesion Grant

Cheshire East Council is offering the voluntary and community groups in the Cheshire East area the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £1,000 for projects that build relationships between different groups of people, achieve something within their local area and make a difference for the future. The full criteria is listed below.

The grants will be awarded at the

Community Cohesion Event
Middlewich Youth and Community Centre
Monday 6th September, 6pm to 8pm

Short listed applicants will be asked to deliver a short 4 to 5 minute briefing about their project and the aims and benefits to their community. The audience will be asked to vote for their preferred projects. Applicants with the highest scores will be presented with cheques on the night. It is a “participatory budgeting” event, passing control of the decision making to local people.
