Chris Davenport

Chris came to work at CCA after having a long and successful career in Catering & Finance. She is responsible for the day to day running of the office and finances, and has worked here since 2005. Chris supports Mark and John in ensuring the organisation is managed effectively and is also responsible for memberships.

Married with two sons, Chris lives in Chester, and her passions (apart from  family & friends) are football, gardening and camping. Her claim to fame...she has been kissed by Arnold Schwarzenegger (on the hand).

Policy and Development Manager

John Heselwood

John joined Cheshire Community Action in 2006 to manage a Government programme to help Cheshire communities develop self-help projects. He completed a BTEC in voluntary sector management and then became a senior manager within a year of working here. John has a strong interest in helping people and the environment, which stems from his previous consultancy experience in social housing, his environmental academic background and his role at an environmental laboratory.

He is now responsible for managing the Neighbourhood Planning Consultancy Service and helps communities conduct housing needs surveys. He is also the Company Secretary and supports the Board and Chief Operating Officer with organisational development. John is married with one daughter and he loves to travel having visited over 35 countries. He is a keen music lover and enjoys anything outdoors, especially camping. One of his prized possessions is his VW Campervan!

Community Agent

Lisa Gordon

Lisa joined CCA in July 2011 with over 10 years' experience working in direct sales industry followed by working with young people with autism. Lisa is a member of the Community Agent Team having co ordinated the Chester Community Car scheme, and helping set up a new car scheme in Crewe and Nantwich. 

Lisa is married with four children and loves spending time with her family especially on holiday.  She enjoys keeping fit at her local gym, participating in boot camps, hell runs and she has completed two half marathons. She has raised over £26,000 for The Christie Hospital over the past 15 years, organising a charity football fundraising event.

Community Agent Coordinator - East

Kelly Druce

Kelly joined CCA in 2013 with over 13 years experience of working in various local authority health and social care settings. In 2009 she qualified as a counsellor and now runs a part-time private practice.

Kelly lives in Macclesfield with her husband and three children. She enjoys spending her spare time walking her two dogs and spending time with her family and friends.

Her hope is that the Community Agents will become a household name to the residents of Cheshire East and that the support of herself and her colleagues will help promote and maintain the independence of vulnerable adults across the county.

Community Agent

Alyssa Baines

Alyssa, Community Agent for Central Cheshire East, has lived in Congleton for many years, with the exception of a three- year interlude to study Biological Sciences at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

She has a long history of working in Nursing and Care homes, and came to work for Cheshire Community Action in July 2013 after reaching the highest point professionally in her previous job.

After spending the last few months working hard to establish the Community Agents project and ensure its success, she hopes to expand it even more and make it known as a household name throughout Cheshire East.

Community Pride Coordinator

Sylvia Batty

Sylvia has a comprehensive background that covers many aspects of CCA’s core work. This includes working as the Chairman and Treasurer of the Cheshire Womans Institute and working on her local Parish Council which followed on from a very successful career in accountancy and working for the Inland Revenue.

Perhaps her most notably positive contribution for CCA is the coordination and championing of the Annual Community Pride competition – which Sylvia has done for over 20 years. Sylvia is an avid world-wide traveller and has a very keen interest in the rural life of Cheshire.

Community Worker & Village Halls Adviser

Claire Jones

Claire has worked at CCA as a Community Led Planning Officer since 2011. Previously she was a chartered transport planner, working for a number of years at the Northwest Development Agency.  She stumbled across CCA when a note came through her door asking for volunteers to work on a parish plan in her village.  She volunteered as Chair of the group, thoroughly enjoyed the process and applied for a job at CCA as a result.

Recently, Claire has diversified into more general community development work, supporting groups with funding advice and other queries and she also acts as CCA's Community Buildings Advisor, helping around 70 community building management committees across the county.  Married with one daughter, she is also an elected parish councillor.

Community Led Planning Officer

Lucy Hughes

Lucy is a chartered town planner and joined the Community Led Planning team at CCA in 2014, following over 20 years working as a policy planner for local authorities in England and Wales.  Using her background in local plans and policy development, she will be working with local communities, helping them with the preparation of their Neighbourhood Plans.
Lucy enjoys socialising with her family and friends, walking in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, and camping in the UK and abroad.  She has also recently started running - much to the total embarrassment of her children!

Trish Farrar

Trish joins Cheshire Community Action with considerable experience in health & social care. For the last 25 years, Trish has given her full commitment to a successful career in health & social care. Working in a person centred approach in a variety of roles including providing personal care to the most vulnerable adults, assisting vulnerable adults to live independently in the community, pursuing and achieving a professional qualification; diploma in social work; and becoming a manager of dementia care services in the Vale Royal area.

Trish enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Loves walking with Tetley the dog, and summer holidays in Greece.

Community Led Planning Officer

Richard Thresh

A chartered town planner with over 25 years experience, Richard has worked for a number of local authorities in East Anglia, the North West and also for the NHS.  More recently, he has held senior roles in private sector planning consultancy.  After a short break from planning to pursue other interests he took up post with Cheshire Community Action in mid-2015, having lived in the county for about 6 years.  With an extensive background in policy development, strategic thinking, and organisational change, allied with varied management experience; his primary role is to assist communities in West Cheshire with the development of Neighbourhood Plans.  

In addition to his job with Cheshire Community Action, Richard is an active member of his community and currently chairs  Rudheath and Witton Together (a ‘Big Local’ Lottery funded project set up to make a lasting and positive difference to the community).  Outside his professional and community commitments, he has a large family and consequently busy family life, punctuated by a keen interest in music and sport.

Mark Reading

Mark has over 14 years experience within the Third Sector, both from an infrastructure and funders' perspective. Mark has worked as a grants officer and grants manager at local, sub-regional, regional and national level. Mark’s current role focuses on ensuring Cheshire Community Action’s objectives are delivered to the highest standard. Tied into this, Mark works closely with John and Chris ensuring the organisation is managed effectively.

Mark has a keen interest in fitness, in particular running and completed his first marathon in 2017. Mark is father to a son, and 5 daughters...and 2 granddaughters!
